Ew - the birth!

Everyone has their birth stories, mine wasn't really dramatic at all (thank goodness), just popped along to hospital at 7am, stomach sliced open at 9.30am and baby Oscar born at 9.41am. It wasn't painful just a bit strange felt like someone washing clothes in my stomach or rummaging around looking for some money. Then I saw Oscar's little squished face and it was the funniest little face I ever did see - and I grew him! God thats amazing. Within 30 minutes I was feeding him and it felt like the most normal thing in all the world.

Well thats the birth story - I did say it wasn't dramatic.

Not much else happened at the hospital over our 3 day stay. The night before we left the excrutiatingly gorgeous paediatrician came over to examine Oscar and funnily enough instead of worrying about my hair being scraped back, my dodgy nursing nightie, and the fact that after 2 nights of no sleep I looked a mess, I was only worried about my little man and the possibility that the doctor may find something - he didn't - but I suppose that hailed the start of my new life and the fact that the number one priority for me was now my little man. (Of course after he left and Oscar was given the all clear I did swoon and perhaps drool ever so slightly - I'm a mum I'm not a nun).

Then all of a sudden 3 days after giving birth we were discharged, we were parents, we had to be sensible, we had a BABY! How did that happen? Couldn't quite believe they just let you leave the hospital, you don't need a licence. or pass a test or anything. Crazy madness.

We took our bundle home and looked at each other. What now? Gees I dunno, sure we'll play it by ear....
